Spring Regimen

Updated: Apr 6, 2020

As we move away from the cold and dry vata season into the wet kapha season, doshic imbalances can be obvious in most of us with cold, flu, migraine, and other seasonal allergies.

Here are a few steps to stay balanced even when the weather doesn’t co-operate:

Stay warm: make sure you are wrapped up and insulated, covering all the openings and only consume warm foods. Avoid eating cold foods, fermented foods, or sweet foods.

Lubricate: you want your orifices to be lubricated using a nasya oil or sesame oil and perform daily massages with mustard oil or sesame oil. If you are a kapha dosha dominant personality( consult an Ayurvedic Practitioner) to find out), you can perform a dry massage with a wash cloth.

Be on the move! You want to stay active all the time and go deeper into your yoga 🧘🏽‍♂️or any other exercise routine to fight the sluggishness. It’s recommended to actively switch between asanas or involve in an invigorating workout like a dance or brisk 🏃🏽‍♂️walk

You want to incorporate warm and heating spices like

🎍Ginger 🎍Black pepper 🎍Turmeric 🎍Garlic 🎍Mustard etc 🌼Avoid oily, stale, frozen foods. Reduce the consumption of cheeses, meats, and other heavy to digest foods🍗🍟

More importantly, listen to the cues your body gives you! 🙏Nature is our best teacher, so listen to your body and keep nourishing it.
